Faculty Overview of SAM
The School of Advanced Materials (SAM) at Peking University focuses on six key research areas: advanced carbon materials, energy materials and materials genome engineering, organic optoelectronics and advanced display materials, novel conceptual materials, life and health materials, and AI + new materials.
The school currently has 20 faculty members, including:
・11 full-time faculty from prestigious institutions such as Harvard University, the University of Cambridge, Berkeley National Laboratory, Germany, Japan, and leading domestic universities.
・7 dual-appointment faculty (affiliated with both the main campus and Shenzhen Graduate School).
・2 adjunct (external) faculty members.

The School of Advanced Materials maintains close collaborative relationships with other schools at PKU, such as the College of Chemistry and the College of Engineering, fostering complementary strengths. The team possesses extensive industry-academia collaboration experience and distinctive advantages in project organization and implementation, scientific research, technological development, and talent cultivation.
Adopting a student training model inspired by Harvard's School of Engineering, the school emphasizes research spanning fundamental to applied sciences, enabling interdisciplinary education at the frontiers of materials innovation.
